Federal Agencies and Resources:

National Park Service: The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the national park system for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The Park Service cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world.

Heritage and Environmental Organizations

National Endowment for the Humanities: An independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.
New Baltimore Conservancy: A not-for-profit corporation dedicated to conserving and enhancing the natural, historic and architectural assets in the town and hamlet of New Baltimore.
Preservation League of New York State: The Preservation League of New York State is dedicated to the protection of New York's diverse and rich heritage of historic buildings, districts, and landscapes. It actively encourages historic preservation by public and private organizations, agencies, and individuals in local communities throughout New York State and provides the united voice for historic preservation.
Scenic Hudson: Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors.
Winnakee Land Trust: The mission of the Winnakee Land Trust is to protect and preserve the natural agricultural, recreational, architectural, cultural, scenic, historical, and open space resources of northern Dutchess County.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Hudson River Estuary Program: The Estuary Program leads a regional partnership to restore the Hudson in ways that support the quality of life for residents by conserving natural resources and promoting public use and enjoyment of the river.

New York State Agencies and Resources

NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation: The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, or OPRHP, minds the state's public lands. It oversees state parks and state historic sites in 13 regions, and works with the New York State Historic Preservation Office to preserve historical locations.
NYS Dept of Agriculture and Markets: The mission is to foster a competitive food and agriculture industry that benefits producers and consumers alike.
NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation: Working from regional offices across the state and a central office in Albany, some 3,500 DEC staff pursue scientific assessment and vigorous action to protect and enhance New York's environment and natural resources. Each regional office serves communities within its boundaries.
NYS Dept of State: The Department of State defends the public's safety, protects and develops a sustainable environment, strengthens local communities, and serves the business community.
NYS Department of Transportation: It is the mission of the New York State Department of Transportation to ensure our customers - those who live, work and travel in New York State -- have a safe, efficient, balanced and environmentally sound transportation system.
Empire State Development: The New York State agency that provides assistance and service to businesses in order to encourage economic investment and prosperity in the state.
NYS Office of General Services: The Office of General Services (OGS) provides essential support services for the operations of State government.

Tourism and Recreation

Hudson Valley Tourism: I Love NY's Website for the Hudson Valley
Historic Hudson River Towns was founded in 1994 (originally called Historic River Towns of Westchester) by mayors and supervisors who saw their main streets failing and were looking for a way to stimulate their local economies. They decided to join forces as an economic development initiative, with tourism as their major focus.
Mohonk Preserve: Located just 90 miles north of New York City, the Mohonk Preserve provides visitors access to over 6,500 acres in the Shawangunk Mountains – including cliffs, forests, fields, ponds, and streams – and to a network of over 100 miles of carriage roads and trails for hiking, running, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. Also, the internationally renowned “Gunks” cliffs offer over 1,000 technical rock climbing routes.
New York/New Jersey Trail Conference: The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference is a federation of 104 hiking clubs and environmental organizations and 10,000 individuals dedicated to building and maintaining marked hiking trails and protecting related open space in the bi-state region.
Palisades Park Conservancy: This corporation is established exclusively for charitable objectives to receive and maintain funds and apply such funds for the improvement of and activities in the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, and for the purposes of promoting and expanding the preservation of natural, historical, and cultural resources in the Park for the benefit of the public.
Parks and Trails New York: Parks & Trails New York works statewide to protect New York's parks and help communities create new parks.
