New York State Agencies and Resources - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, or OPRHP, minds the state's public lands. It oversees state parks and state historic sites in 13 regions, and works with the New York State Historic Preservation Office to preserve historical locations.

Historic Hudson River Towns was founded in 1994 (originally called Historic River Towns of Westchester) by mayors and supervisors who saw their main streets failing and were looking for a way to stimulate their local economies. They decided to join forces as an economic development initiative, with tourism as their major focus. -
Mohonk Preserve: Located just 90 miles north of New York City, the Mohonk Preserve provides visitors access to over 6,500 acres in the Shawangunk Mountains – including cliffs, forests, fields, ponds, and streams – and to a network of over 100 miles of carriage roads and trails for hiking, running, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. Also, the internationally renowned “Gunks” cliffs offer over 1,000 technical rock climbing routes. -
New York/New Jersey Trail Conference: The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference is a federation of 104 hiking clubs and environmental organizations and 10,000 individuals dedicated to building and maintaining marked hiking trails and protecting related open space in the bi-state region. -
Palisades Park Conservancy: This corporation is established exclusively for charitable objectives to receive and maintain funds and apply such funds for the improvement of and activities in the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, and for the purposes of promoting and expanding the preservation of natural, historical, and cultural resources in the Park for the benefit of the public. -
