The Hudson River Valley Greenway Communities Council approved Rockland County’s Greenway Compact strategy at its board meeting in Hyde Park on Wednesday. Often referred to as “grass roots regional planning,” Greenway Compacts are locally directed voluntary regional planning documents that serve as guidance for municipalities to incorporate the balanced “Greenway Criteria” and a regional perspective in local planning and land use decisions.

The Greenway is partnering with the Winnakee Land Trust for the April 21, 2012 Dutchess County Trail Conference.

In 2007, the Greenway was awarded a $300,000 TEP grant for the interpretation of the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route, now a National Historic Trails administered by the National Park Service (NPS).

The design and implementation of each evaluation will include the perspectives of CPM, the NPS Working Group, the NPS Expert Panel, the NPS Comptroller, the NPS liaison with each heritage area, and NHA leadership and community partners.
